Four councils discuss ways to reform planning rules
26th June, 2024. Four councils - Westminster, Islington, Kensington & Chelsea, and Bath & North - met in person to compare experiences and discuss ways to facilitate and scale up the retrofit of historic homes, at our campaign’s invitation. Held under Chatham House rules with experts and residents in attendance, the meeting resulted in a number of important recommendations. You can read and download the report here.
Islington Council receives our petition
2nd March 2023. Leyla Boulton presented our petition to the full Council meeting this evening. In response, the Council will hold a full debate - though limited to 15 minutes - in early July. Thank you to everyone who supported the campaign. The Council is now working on a ‘supplementary planning document’ to update planning rules, which will be published in the spring of 2024. We have been invited to take an active part in the forthcoming consultations. If you would like to be heard, please do get in touch below.
Our campaign in the Islington Tribune
7th October 2022. We spoke to Anna Lamche of the Islington Tribune about the campaign. The article reported that there were 42 conservation areas and over 1,000 grade II listed buildings in the borough, and that these homes were among the most energy-inefficient. If you have not already, please join the hundreds of neighbours who have signed our petition to Islington Council by adding your name to it here.
